  Bayern Munich star Thomas Muller has reportedly turned down an approach from FC Cincinnati to sign him as a free agent this summer. The 35-year-old announced that he is leaving the German Bundesliga side at the end of the season, with a 25-year stay at the club coming to a close.

  The Eastern Conference side own his MLS rights – a mechanism that enables Cincy the right to negotiate with him before any other team.

  first reported the talks between the two parties, whileannounced that Muller turned down the offer on Wednesday.

  THE BIGGER PICTURE

  Muller has been a mainstay with the Bundesliga giants since turning pro, and in the 2025-26 season, has scored six goals and recorded six assists across 1500 minutes. Across his storied career, he has scored 248 goals and recorded 274 assists while making 747 appearances for the German outfit.

  He has 12 Bundesliga titles, two Champions League titles, among other titles.

  FC Cincinnati, meanwhile, could add another Designated Player to pair with playmakers Evander and Kevin Denkey. The duo has helped lead FCC to a second-place standing in the Eastern Conference.
