  WHAT HAPPENED?

  According to , Liverpool have made a formal request to refereeing body Professional Game Match Officials Board (PGMOL) to release the audio of the discussion that took place between VAR and the referee surrounding the decision.

  Supporters – particularly those that follow events at Anfield closely – will be desperate to hear how the match officials got such a big call so wrong. Diaz was clearly onside despite being flagged on the field, with Darren England and Dan Cook in the VAR booth delivering a quick “check complete” message as they believed the effort had been awarded as a goal.

  That was not the case and PGMOL have been forced to apologise for a “significant human error”. That has done little to ease anger and concern on Merseyside, with investigations and sweeping change being called for. are, however, reporting that the discussion which went on at Stockley Park after seeing Diaz hit the net in north London will be released to the public.
